Well.... just imagine... what our country, our churches, our families would look like if we all committed to daily prayer. I can only imagine what my life, and the lives of my children would have been like had we done this. In a recent email, a friend encouraged a group of us military wives and mothers to devote the 9:00 hour each evening to prayer. Take it a step further... prayer , bible study and discussion with our families. We would be so different. Our families would grow closer to each other and to the Lord. It does seem that the 9:00 hour is a good choice. Think about it.... What are you usually doing at that time. It is not often a time of great activity. Usually a winding down time for most families. Even when little ones are in the home, I think they would appreciate the nightly ritual and gathering of the family. My heart melts at the missed opportunities and blessings. Many sweet memories are treasured up in my heart of the prayers of my children when they were younger. Their tender words spoken to their Heavenly Father expressing the faith to move mountains. What a store house of pleasant images I can reflect on in the dark days of life.
God, my Father... Bless our family. Brings us to our knees before you. Give us hungry minds for your Word. Humble our prideful attitude that causes us to think we can make it each day without You. Forgive us for not only neglecting You ... but for avoiding You. Remove our desire for pleasure and entertainment. Fill us with an unquenchable thirst for Your presence and communion.
A beautiful prayer. A-men
